The Heart behind Logos Language Consulting
Key Beliefs
Centered on Truth
I aim to keep our beliefs in the Author of Life at the center as we consider English ministry. Whether or not you are able to share openly about your personal beliefs in class, we will think through your team’s mission and vision and thoughtfully find ways to foster a safe environment where deep conversations occur and relationships are built to share the most important story.
I am in agreement with The Lausanne Covenant.
Commitment to Excellence
We desire to love well by teaching well. Although you don’t have to be a professional teacher to have an English program, learning and growing in your ability to facilitate a class is well worth the effort, and it shows. Your students feel loved when they see that you’ve devoted time, energy, and care into preparing and teaching. I can provide training or outside training referrals, lesson feedback, and resources for further professional development.
People-Focused
English is a tool to show love to our neighbors, so we will focus on how best to serve them in this ministry. This includes making sure to address their needs and interests in language learning and being committed to honor their language(s) and culture(s). I will provide simple needs assessments that you can administer to create a program that is desirable and helpful for your students, as well as some questions to ask to make sure your program encourages your neighbors in who they were made to be.
Holistic Community Viewpoint
English can be a powerful ministry tool, but we want to be sure that it is used in the right context, serving usefully and strengthening community relationships. My approach includes considering the principles of asset-based community development, which takes time to think about the desires and skills of the community when looking to plan a new effort. I will give you the tools you need to ask the right questions and determine what kind of English ministry is best for your context.
